Leave room for detours
A Notify NYC alert issued Sunday says the Columbus Day Parade will bring Monday closures on Fifth Avenue between East 42nd Street and East 79th Street. Closure decisions are at NYPD discretion, and nearby streets may also be affected.
The notice advises alternate routes and extra travel time. It does not provide a fixed reopening time. People crossing the parade corridor should consult current traffic information rather than assume the whole route opens at once.
